From the President-The Passing of Mrs. Etta Maycock Dudley
It is my sad responsibility to formally share with the constituents of the South Central Conference the passing of the former first lady of our conference, Mrs. Etta Maycock Dudley.
Mrs. Dudley was the widow of the late Elder C.E. Dudley, the fourth President of our conference. Elder Dudley served as President of our conference for 31 years-the longest tenure of any conference president in the history of our church. At the time he assumed office, our conference was small-some 4,000 members and approximately 200,000 in tithe. Under God and the visionary leadership of Elder Dudley, the infrastructure was set in place for conference to grow to over 32,000 members and nearly 19 million dollars in tithe.
South Central is today what it is because of the Lord and because Elder Dudley was who he was. Though it has been 21 years since and 3 Presidents-each of whom, he hired and trained as young Pastors-since he left office, his influence still lives on in our conference.
Through all of those years, Mrs. Dudley was faithfully by his side, traveling with him throughout the conference and the world and serving as the Administrative Assistant to the President and the Shepherdess Director for our conference.
Even as her health began to fail, she was a faithful member of the Riverside Chapel SDA Church in Nashville up until the very end. It was my understanding that she attended church on the final day of her life. She was a fixture at major conference events, such as Camp Meeting.
We thank the Lord for her long and productive life and for her service and ministry to the South Central Conference.
Looking forward to a wonderful family […]
